RC Compare for DB2 for z/OS

Issue/Introduction

Is it possible to include source object names in the JCL, or is DDL Input (DDLIN) the only source that can be used in the Batch Automap Compare?

Resolution

The only source that can be used as input to an Automap Compare strategy is a DDL file (DDLIN).

It can be compared to either a target DDL file (DDLINTRG) or a target subsystem.

In order to specify source object names in the JCL then you would need a 3-step job to generate the source DDL file, create the Automap Compare strategy and then analyze the Compare.

  1. Step 1 - Quick Migration, where you specify the source object names. This creates a source DDL file that is then passed as input to step 2.
  2. Step 2 - Batch Automap Compare using the above file as input.
  3. Step 3 - Analyze the Compare strategy.
