Issue/Introduction

Use cases for replacing the Cloud SWG WSS Agent (WSSA) client:

  • The WSSA client from a test Cloud SWG tenant is installed and it needs to be replaced with the WSSA client from a production tenant
  • Merging two different Cloud SWG tenants: All clients in the company need to point to the same tenant (and use the same policy)

Resolution

Each WSSA client installer is "binary stamped" with a unique customer ID (which is the Cloud SWG tenant ID).  This client ID cannot be changed in the client installer.

Upgrading the WSSA client will not change the client ID.

To use a WSSA client that is registered ("stamped") to a different Cloud SWG tenant, the WSSA client must be uninstalled and the new WSSA client installer (from the new tenant) must be run.

In other words, the only way to change the tenant that the WSSA client points to is to:

  1. Uninstall the current WSSA client, and
  2. Install the new WSSA client (downloaded from the new/current Cloud SWG tenant)
