Network protection devices such as Management Center virtual appliances, Reporter virtual appliances, ISG-hosted applications, Edge SWG (ProxySG) virtual appliances, or Content Analysis virtual appliances may warn of intermittent communication failure with the license validation services.
The messages include any of the following:
"Lic_validation: communication problem with 'https://validation.es.bluecoat.com/phs.cgi': Unexpected HTTP response (23)"
“Health monitoring: PROBLEM - <HOSTNAME> Metric: License Server Communication Status WARNING - License suspension in X days”
“info avenger-entitlements[PIDNumber]: avoidance: Cannot communicate with license validation server”
"License suspension by server avoidance in 7 days"
You will see that the communication with the license validation server recovers:
“Health monitoring: RECOVERY - HOSTNAME Metric: License Server Communication Status OK”
We have identified issues with our license validation service and are working to resolve them.
This issue has been resolved internally at Broadcom.
If you are still having license validation issues, verify connectivity with the license validation service. If connectivity has been verified, then create a case and work with support to resolve the issue.
