Issue/Introduction
When there are problem with Protection Engine for Cloud or NAS running on Windows servers it is very helpful for Technical Support representatives to be able to diagnose the problem having a birds-eye view of how the server is configured and what it has been logging. The following information is on how to generate a SymDiag report to gather Protection Engine details specifically.
Environment
Release : 8.x, 9.x
Resolution
Download SymDiag.exe and extract it from the zip file attached to this article.
Run SymDiag.exe on the SPE server. Run the program and click the link to cancel the update check because the most recent version of SymDiag does not collect many elements related to Protection Engine.
Select “Collect Data for Support”
Select to collect only Symantec Protection Engine
Next
Select to collect “All Data”
Next
The program will begin running and collecting data
Save the output file to a local drive and upload it to the case or you can use the case upload tool in SymDiag to upload to a case that is currently open:
