We have received notice from Tenable that the installed JRE within the 10.7 HF 87 has JRE version 8.0.292 and would like to know if this is upgraded in the 10.8 version?
If not, what is the upgrade process (well after we get 10.7 HF 87 working) for the JRE?

As per the documentation below, 10.8 GA comes with
Starting with the release, Java HotSpot(TM) from Oracle Corporation is replaced with OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM 1.8.0_322 from AdoptOpenJDK.
As for 10.8 SP1, the documentation below states:
Prerequisite
Download and install JRE 11 prior to applying this service pack. This service pack also upgrades AdoptOpenJDK 8.x to 11.x in any APM components if needed. See the hotfix.log file for the details.
For 10.8 SP1, you can use OpenJDK or AdoptOpenJDK.
Version 11 was the minimum we required at the time of the release of SP1.
From Tenable's solution, you can use a later version past 11.0.18.
Solution
Upgrade to an OpenJDK version greater than 8u362 / 11.0.18 / 17.0.6 / 20.0.0
To upgrade, just move or delete the <EM home>/jre directory and install the newly downloaded AdoptOpenJDK into <EM home>/jre
1. Adoptopenjdk is now known as adoptium as stated on the banner on their site.
2. The entire 11.x series is supported with 10.8 SP1.
