IEFTMS70 3YY-112 abends on tape jobs.

Issue/Introduction

 

Tape jobs creating secondary files are abending with message:

IEFTMS70 3YY-112.

 

 

  

 

Cause

Pointer error in control record 2.

Resolution

 

 

Run TMSPTRS or APEC (a task in the CTS started task).

If you run APEC it will do the needed corrections.

If you run TMSPTRS then you will receive a report similar to this one.

ERR24 Unused DSNB xxxxxx is not in chain and chains thru DSNB yyyyyy

ERR44 TMSCTL#2 chains thru DSNB xxxxxx, nnnnnn DSNBs in chain

 

 

 

Execute TMSUDSNB with no tape processing using the following control statements:

PASSWORD=system.password
CTL2
VER RECID=TMSCTL#2
VER NXAVAIL=010123
REP NXAVAIL=156
(your error messages will have different numbers, use the information from your report)

 

 

Additional Information

 

These errors may have been caused by any of the following:

Invalid manual updates

System crashes

Abends

Other hardware/software errors

TMC could not be restored with all available Audit data (as in a disaster recovery)
