Issue/Introduction

You need to perform a backup of the oracle protect database and need to create a recovery aid file. You are getting errors when trying to create a recovery aid file.

You are following our documentation,

https://techdocs.broadcom.com/us/en/symantec-security-software/information-security/data-loss-prevention/16-0-1/maintaining-the-system/backing-up-and-recovering-on-windows-v15259586-d363e1510/performing-a-cold-backup-of-the-oracle-database-on-id-sf990316262a-d363e1947/creating-recovery-aid-files-on-windows-v15259766-d363e2049.html

see example command,

alter database backup controlfile to trace as 'C:\Program Files\Symantec\DataLossPrevention\SymantecDLP_Backup_Files\ Recovery_Aid\controlfile.trc';

When running this command you see these errors,

ORA-01278:  error creating file
ORA-27300:  OS system dependent operation: open failed failed with status: 13
ORA-27301:  OS failure message:  the data is invalid.
ORA-27302:  failure occurred at:  S1ffopen1

Environment

Release : 16.0.1

Cause

The account you are logged in with and connected as doesn't have necessary privileges.

Resolution

You can perform the following as a work around,

This will create the file in an oracle subdirectory.

ref, C:\Oracle\Product\19.3.0.0\db_1\database.

You can then move it to this path as per our instructions,

C:\Program Files\Symantec\DataLossPrevention\SymantecDLP_Backup_Files\Recovery_Aid\
