CCS Installation failure - The installation activity Configure AppServer account on SQL server failed to execute

Issue/Introduction

I'm trying to perform an installation of CCS 12.6.1 from scratch, but the installation of the Application Server is failing with "The installation activity Configure AppServer account on SQL server failed to execute."

The OS is Windows Server 2022, the database is MS SQL Server 2022. Both the installing user and the "service account" have sysadmin privileges on the DB.

Environment

Release : CCS Infra Release 12.6.x

Cause

The service account that CCS will be using is not in the local administrators group on the server where CCS is being installed to.

Resolution

Add the service account to the local administrator's group, and ensure that the account has "Log on as a service".
Also, make sure that the service account or any of the groups the account is in are NOT in the "Deny log on as a service".

Once the service account has been added, re-run the installation, this time it will be successful.
