Issue/Introduction

When reviewing "All Computers" under DSM Explorer for computer groups, it displays the status of the DSM agents.

The RC Status changes from "Listening" to "Unknown" when the agent computer is shutdown, but sometimes however RC Status may be "Listening" even though it is known that the Agent computer is offline.

Environment

Client Automation - All Versions

Resolution

The Status change is triggered when the Remote Control Agent tells the Scalability Server that it has been shutdown.

If the Agent did not shutdown correctly, (e.g. loss of power) the Agent will not have told the server it was shutting down and therefore the status does not change.

Additional Information

The Domain Manager can control the checking for inactivity of the agents via policy, which is called "Inactive timeout" (under DSM > Remote Control > Manager):

This policy manages the time interval after which the manager runs a check for inactivity of the Agents, setting the policy value to 0; which is the default value, deactivates the check.
