COBOL or COBOL2 in LNG column of CPROGRAM command

Issue/Introduction

When using the CPROGRAM command to display the list of CICS program definitions, there is a field (Lng) with the programming language for the program.

There are several values and 2 of them are COBOL and COBOL2.

 

How Sysview decides that a program should appear as COBOL or COBOL2 on the CPROGRAM screen?

Release : 17.0

Resolution

To determine the language SYSVIEW deciphers an internal language code stored by CICS for the program. 

There are plans to remove the COBOL2 and just show it as COBOL in some future PTF.
