Issue/Introduction

It cannot be logged in the appliance with SSH although those characters are allowed in the documents, when one(some) of below characters is(are) contained in the password for SSL Visibility(SSLV) console access account.
SSLV appliances can configure/change console account password. When it contains $ or " or `, it cannot be logged in with SSH. 

Environment

SSL Visibility 5.4.3.1, 4.5.12.1

Cause

This is password limitation, SSLV appliances can configure/change console account password. When it contains $ or " or `, it cannot be logged in with SSH. 

$  Dollar sign
"  Quotation mark
`  Acute accent

Resolution

If those characters are needed, there is a workaround. Insert back slash before the characters to escape.

Example password:

  • Abc1234"
  • HEHu9XP%$QVdbi

 

Workaround

  • Abc1234\"
  • HEHu9XP%\$QVdbi

The following special characters are allowed in passwords:
