Issue/Introduction

Adding a child node to Documentation object, appends a non-deletable blank line to the text field of the parent node.

Environment

Release : 21.0.7

Cause

Known Issue Reference Defect AE-33214.

Resolution

This is a known behavior, planned to be fixed in version 21.0.9 / V24 tentatively scheduled for February 2024. (version and timeline may change based on internal testing).

Additional Information

Steps to reproduce the issue:

  1. Add a Docu variable with a Title. Example Title: @Object1
    UC_OBJECT_DOCU - Object Documentation
  2. In process Assembly, add a Documentation Object
  3. Add a Node under "Object1". Example: node named "Content"
  4. Add Some text. Example: "This is a Test document"
  5. Save It.
  6. Close and reopen the object again.
  7. Edit the above Text to add or remove something. Example: Change "This is a Test document" to "This is a reproduction test case"
  8. Save It
  9. Close and reopen the object again. The changes save as expected.
  10. Now add a "Child Node". Example: Child node named "Paragraph"
  11. Save It
  12. Close and reopen the Documentation object
  13. You will see the issue. Check the "Content" Text.
  14. A blank line gets inserted above your line "This is a reproduction Test case"

Notes:

  • Even if you remove the blank line and Save it, close and reopen the Documentation object back, the blank line does not go away. It stays there.
  • In the above test, the sequence of editing the line or changing does not matter. As soon as you add a child node it will insert a blank line to the text field of the Parent node. Note that you will need to save, close the object completely and reopen it to see the issue.
