Issue/Introduction

When migrating SharePoint servers to a new farm, how do you migrate Protection for SharePoint Servers (SPSS) and keep its current configuration?

Resolution

Before you begin, perform an Export of your settings which you can then import in to the new Indexer.

Whenever there is migration or upgrade, it is always recommended to uninstall SPSS and then upgrade or migrate the SharePoint. Once the SharePoint servers are completely migrated, decommission the old indexer and configure the new Web Front End (WFE)’s to the new indexer. Then freshly install SPSS on all the servers in the farm.
