Apple released macOS 14, branded as Sonoma, on September 26, 2023.
On September 28, 2023, Broadcom declared version 14.3 Release Update 8 of the Mac client will be supported on Sonoma as long as the WSS component is disabled.
MacOS 14 Sonoma
In the Mac client, the WSS component is represented by the Web and Cloud Access Protection (WCAP) feature.
The WCAP policy applied to the client needs to stay disabled to ensure supportability.
This limitation is due to a bug that needs to be resolved by Apple. See the Additional Information section below.
See this document reference containing information on the WSS/WCAP/Cloud SWG Limitations.
Apple support inquiries regarding this limitation should refer to the existing Apple case ID FB11789772.
Common questions:
1. Is this limitation specific to the combination of Sonoma and 14.3 RU8 or just RU8 in general?
A. This is only for the Sonoma and 14.3 RU8 combination. There is no other supported Mac client for use on Sonoma at this time.
2. Will Broadcom be working on a fix for this issue?
A. The limitation is caused by an Apple bug. At this time, Broadcom is expecting Apple to resolve this issue. Refer to the case ID above.
3. If and when the limitation is resolved, will there be a SEP/SES client update released to accommodate the change by Apple?
A. At this time, Broadcom does not plan to update the Mac client until 14.3 RU9. If Apple releases an updated macOS version containing the fix, Broadcom support will update the documentation with the minimum macOS 14.x version for full supportability on our Mac client.
