Issue/Introduction

The customer decided that he needs to partition the ARCHIVE_OBJECT12_5 table in Oracle because it is too big, almost 7Tb.
Can Broadcom Support consider the environment Supported yet if DBA does the partition in this table or Broadcom Support will require rollback the partition in case have any issue?

Environment

Release : 14.4

Resolution

1. About your doubt if Broadcom Support would support the environment after it has been changed with a Partitioning of IDM database tables in Oracle Database this was the response, we received in the internal ticket we opened with our Engineering Team:

"Any partitioning would be on the DB side and should appear seamless to IDM (aka IDM need not be aware of it). Of course, customer will have to thoroughly test to validate the configuration. Should a specific issue arise in future with IDM performance or otherwise, then Broadcom may request to undo the partitioning. At this point in time, it is difficult to predict what issues if any may be encountered in future that could be traced to partitioning. So, the best approach is to make sure IDM is thoroughly tested with functional as well as bulk tasks (to simulate load) to ascertain if any issues related to partitioning will be seen."

2. Another alternative is to open an enhancement request. This enhancement process is outside the Support case in which Product Management assesses the feasibility of implementing or not.
