Issue/Introduction

What and why do AppNeta MPs are sending out DNS Requests for tunnel-virtual-address.tun.appneta.net

Resolution

AppNeta Monitoring Points automatically populate the hosts file with a FQDN tunnel-virtual-address.tun.appneta.net after successfully connecting to the AppNeta SaaS Instance or AppNeta On-Prem Instance.

 

If you are encountering this issue where your external DNS Servers are seeing this resolution it is recommended to restart the Monitoring Point's Networking or Reboot it via the WebAdmin.  If you continue to see these DNS Requests it's possible that the MP is not able to properly connect to the assigned instance, you can run the Server Reachability Tests in the WebAdmin to further gather information.
