Issue/Introduction

When looking to delete the old ACF2 SHIFT records, it needs to be confirmed they are obsolete and not in use. How can this be verified?

Environment

Release : 16.0

Resolution

  1. First look to see if any of the shift records are specified on any LID records:

    SET LID
    SET TERSE
    LIST IF(SHIFT = 'shiftrecordname')

*Replace shiftrecordname with the name of the shift record. The quotes around the shift record name are mandatory.

If there are no results, then the record is not being used on any logonid. If there are logonids that have the shift record specified, the next step is to evaluate who the logonids are for and whether or not they still need a shift restriction before removing the shift record.

  2. The shift records are also used in dataset access and resource rules. These are a little more difficult to report on usage.

If Broadcom's Cleanup Product is running, then browse the tracking file and see if there are any instances of SHIFT and view the last referenced date.

If Broadcom's Cleanup Product is not running, then the following would need to be completed:

    1. Run an ACFBATCH job to DECOMP or LIST all of the rules in the ACCESS and INFOSTG database
    2. Browse the output for SHIFT(shiftrecordname).
    3. If there are instances, make sure the access or service for the rule entry is set to LOG.
    4. Periodically run DS and RV reports to see if the rule entries are being used.
