The current production environment is 8.6 RU3. When attempting to install 8.6 RU3 on a new server the following error shown in Symantec Installation Manager (SIM) on both Server 2019 and Server 2022:
An error occurred while creating the package and the wizard must close. Please see log for details.

The symantec_v2.pl.xml file was missing from C:\Program Files\Altiris\Symantec Installation Manager\Installs\Altiris filesystem location.
Solution was to copy the missing symantec_v2.pl.xml file from the C:\Program Files\Altiris\Symantec Installation Manager\Installs\Altiris filesystem location from another Notification Server in the environment.
Another option could be to open the SIM tool and go to SETTINGS in the upper-right corner as shown in the screenshot below and you should see the "pl" (product listing file) and select the Update button and it should refresh it to the latest version (the machine will need internet access as it will pull it from the SolutionSam site):
