Annotation having special characters added by Messaging Gateway is broken

Issue/Introduction

When we add a plain text annotation having special characters (ex: French letters: é, à, è, ù, ç, â, ê, î, ô, û, ë, ï, ü). These characters are saved correctly on the web GUI but when the end user receives a message with annotation with these special characters, they are broken.
For example: é is seen as \u00E9
