Issue/Introduction

Upgrading from 16.0 to version 17.0 and running the INST0050 job to migrate the old security database then getting the message:

GSV4202I External security checking is suspended for your user ID

How to get rid of this message?

Environment

SYSVIEW 16.0 & 17.0 - z/OS supported releases -

Resolution

The GSV4202I message is generated because the users have READ access to the SV.SUSP entity in the external security product.

It sounds like the external security was enabled when running the security conversion (upgrading to 17.0).

There is a SAF class name specified in the External Security of the ADMIN (or GLOBAL) group.

To run with internal SYSVIEW security only, the SAF class can be removed in 17.0 so there is no need to modify the access to SV.SUSP.

The FACILITY has to be changed to NONE for the SAF Entity Class Name in the External Security Options.

If this is not the case, the access to SV.SUSP. can be removed to get rid of this message.
