Issue/Introduction

Was wanting to find a command that could be used when the P command does not purge the task. Discovered the K command for KILL but it is not documented

Resolution

The Explore/CICS "P" command issued against a running task issues a "CEMT SET TASK(nnnnn) PURGE" command "under the covers".

 

The Explore/CICS "K" command issued against a running task issues a "CEMT SET TASK(nnnnn) FORCEPURGE" command "under the covers".

 

In the latter case, the user must be warned that the termination of the task may not be "clean", and that in some cases, the CICS partition will have to be shutdown and restarted.

 

Furthermore, if it becomes necessary to shutdown and restart the CICS partition, in some exceptional cases, it "may not be possible" to shutdown the CICS partition cleanly.
