Issue/Introduction

Embedded Tomcat 9.0.75 does not install correctly on Web Viewer 12.1 for Windows.

  1. When installing with service.bat see ERROR: JRE_HOME variable is not defined correctly.  
  2. When selecting install as a service during the install, the installation completes but the service description says the name of the previous service such as Tomcat 9.0.72.

Environment

Web Viewer 12.1 for Windows

Java

Apache Tomcat

Cause

JRE_HOME variable does not work with Tomcat 9.0.75

Resolution

Substitute your own path name for the samples below if needed.

  1. In the lower left of your screen, Type here to search, type env and select the Environment Variables Box
    In the System Variables box select JRE_HOME and Delete and OK

  2. Install the Tomcat 9.0.75 service manually :
    Change in to the
    C:\Program Files\CA\CA_OM_Web_Viewer\apache-tomcat-9.0.75\bin directory and type:
    service.bat install 9.0.75

  3. In Services, right click on Tomcat 9.0.75 and select properties.
    Select Local System Account and Apply OK

4. Go into the command prompt as administrator and change into
C:\Program Files\CA\CA_OM_Web_Viewer\apache-tomcat-9.0.75\bin and type
tomcat9w //ES//9.0.75
And click on the Java Tab and update the heap size to  what it was previously

Click Apply OK.

5. In services, Start Tomcat 9.0.75
