Issue/Introduction

We would like to know where the DLP servers used for email inspection are located and what data is stored on those servers. This information is needed as part of the privacy regulations.

Environment

Release : 16.0

Cause

You need to identify the location of your cloud detector for data residency documentation. 

 

Resolution

1. Obtain your detector ID from Enforce or the Cloud Management Portal.
2. Open a command line interface that supports nslookup and perform the following command:

nslookup <detector ID>.ds.dlp.protect.broadcom.com

Example output:

Non-authoritative answer:
Name:    rest-us-east1-p01-i01-si01.dlp.protect.broadcom.com

Note the first section mentions us-east1.

Compare the region listed in the result to the list found here.

This will identify the state/country in which this detector resides.
