Intermittently, and only occasionally, the Password Policies in the IDM User console list only the default IDM password policy and does not display the password policies integrated with SiteMinder.
The temporary fix for this we have been doing is restarting the IDM servers and then the password polies display as expected, showing all the IM-SM password policies What could be causing this and is it a known bug?
We are on a non-vApp environment on IAM 14.4 CP2.

We suspect that there is an intermittent network/connectivity loss between IM and SM. Without being to read from the SM policy server, IDM displays its default password policy.
Restarting IM reestablishes the SM connection
At the next occurrence try to get a copy of the IM application server log to see if there are any signs of connection problems, particularly with the SM tunnel connection.
