Issue/Introduction

Implementing the 14.4 OVA on a lab environment and VMWare team told that the NIC e1000 Type was deprecated and if possible, change to VMXNet3 NIC as better and faster than e1000 type.

1. Is there plans to Broadcom to implement this NIC on the IGA OVA?

2. Can change the configuration on VMWare without creating problems on the application?

Environment

Release : 14.4

Resolution

1. This will be taken care of in the next release. The current OVA is already published, so Broadcom Engineering cannot make any changes to it.

2. Changing the adapter by editing the vmx file should be ok and should not cause problems during initial deployment.

3. If a customer has already deployed, it is not mandatory for them to change the network adapter. There are no vulnerabilities associated with it. It is just an updated version with a larger bandwidth option. If the customer is confident that they can retain the same IP for the machine after changing the adapter, they may change it. But it is recommended that they keep it as it is, unless there is a major issue or blocker.
