Issue/Introduction

When running the pv_monitor.sh script with the -H option, the following error is reported.  In the GUI, it mentions that one of the controllers is degraded or is showing that the array cannot communicate with the controller.

[root@host ~]# pv_monitor.sh -H

Resolution

First attempt to reset the controller through the Powervault Manager GUI.

  1. Log in as admin in Powervault Manager
  2. Click System on the left hand panel
  3. Click the Action button
  4. Click Reset System
  5. Select "Restart" for Operation
  6. For "Controller Type" choose Storage
  7. Select either Controller A or B (whichever is causing problems)
  8. Click OK

The controller can take anywhere from 5-10 minutes to fully reset.  If the controller reset does not solve the problem, open a case with technical support and be prepared with the storage logs.  Most likely the controller will need to be replaced.
