What is the purpose of the AMSSetup program?

Issue/Introduction

There are several AMSSetup programs under ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS on the IT Asset Manager (ITAM) server.

What is the purpose of these programs and can they be uninstalled?

Resolution

The AMSSetUp program is the Asset Viewer application which is bundled with the ITAM installation. 

These AMS programs in the Control Panel are registered every time ITAM is patched/upgraded. Removing them from the control panel would lead to uninstallation of AMS (Common Asset Viewer).  Therefore they should NOT be uninstalled.

AMS runs on Tomcat web server. You may find the AMS service in services console on the ITAM App Server
