AppNeta - Network Path Creation "Set Monitoring Points as Endpoints" option fails

Issue/Introduction

When selecting two or more Monitoring Points during Network Path Creation the option to Set Monitoring Points as Endpoints is available for creating Dual Ended Network Paths.  However when the Connectivity check is performed, it fails and does not allow the path creation to proceed.

Resolution

The option "Set Monitoring Points as Endpoints" is available when you select more than one Monitoring Point while manually creating a Network Path.

This option uses the Display Names as seen in the Manage Monitoring Points page as the target and as a result requires that the exact name be resolvable via the configured DNS Servers.

 

As it is possible for the actual Hostname of the Monitoring Point and the Display Name to be different, it is recommended to use IP Addresses or provide the proper FQDN of the other Monitoring Points instead of using "Set Monitoring Points as Endpoints".
