Issue/Introduction

We migrated the UIM database a new MS SQL Server and updated the data_engine probe Database Configuration details. All probes including NAS are running fine but noticed that alarm enrichment stopped working.

Database was moved per the steps in the UIM Documentation Move the DX UIM Database (MS SQL Server) section

Reviewed the alarm_enrichment.log and noted the error below:

[main, alarm_enrichment] CmdbJdbcDataSource: The TCP/IP connection to the host mydatabaseserver, has failed. Error: "mydatabaseserver,1433. Verify the connection properties. Make sure that an instance of SQL Server is running on the host and accepting TCP/IP connections at the port. Make sure that TCP connections to the port are not blocked by a firewall.".

Environment

  • Any UIM version

Cause

enrichment-source -> cmdb's has not been updated with the new MS SQL Database server properties

Resolution

1. Launch IM and deactivate nas followed by alarm_enrichment
2. Select the nas probe
3. Open Raw Configure
4. Expand the enrichment-source section
5. Expand the cdmbs section
6.  Select each active cmdbs and update the connection_url key with new database server properties. Update user and password keys if they were changed.
7. Activate alarm_enrichment followed by nas
