Issue/Introduction

Following the yesterday's Nimbus version upgrade from v.20.4 CU5 to v.20.4 CU8, we faced an issue.

Under the OC's Setup Wizard tab the Primary Hub's Discovery Agent is not available.

In random timeslots, it is available for a very short time.

As an alternative, we utilize the secondary Hubs for any discovery actions.

In addition, I am not sure if recently (before the version upgrade) we had the same issues. Nevertheless, in the past, we could utilize the specific Discovery Agent.

Environment

  • Release: 20.4

Resolution

On the Primary hub:

  1. Deactivate the discovery_agent.
  2. Rt-click and Choose Delete.
  3. Delete the discovery_agent folder from the Primary hub file system.
  4. Redeploy the same discovery_agent version from the Primary hub's local archive.
  5. Check the discovery_agent log at loglevel 5 and it should be fine.
  6. Logout of OC
  7. Login and check the discovery_agent reference.

If that doesn't work try the following:

  1. Deactivate the OC Robot's wasp
  2. Wait until the port and PID disappear
  3. Activate wasp
  4. Check the discovery_agent again.
  5. Normally the discovery_agent isn't necessary/used on the Primary hub as the discovery_server does the discovery for any node/device that is reachable. But if you are using it for some reason, the scopes and credentials are stored in the UIM DB so it's safe to remove and re-add the probe.

Issue resolved.
