Release Dependencies core application is not displaying successors and predecessors correctly

Resolution

This Release Dependencies application is mapping all the dependencies for all User Stories.  And because of this, it can get pretty "tangled".  To keep the Release Dependencies application view very simple it displays this information by using a "Frame of Reference" view.  This means that not all of the User Stories will be in that middle "Stories" column.

The following helped me gain a better understanding of this page:

  • Consider that the columns move from left to right  (without thinking about the column heading).
    • Any artifact listed to the left of another artifact will always be needed before the middle column which will always be needed before the right column.

Example:

US561 has a predecessor of US477

The application displays it correctly (using the "Frame of Reference" view / don't consider column names) with US477 to the right of US561.
