Does View have an option to use compression on its tapes?

If so, can it use the IBM z14 hardware zEDC compression (z Enterprise Data Compression)?

Resolution

When creating output tapes in View, which would be either with a View backup or with using SARPAC, with the SARINIT setting of TAPEOPT=3480,HARD,NOSOFT (or TAPEOPT=EAST,HARD,NOSOFT), the tape device writing to the tapes determines what compression is used. 

Correspondingly, with the HARD setting, View goes along with whatever compression is being used on the device doing the writing to the tapes. 

With the NOSOFT setting, there will be no software compression used. 

To ensure that all of the tapes result in having the compression used with the new tape system, use the SARPAC process.
