Issue/Introduction

When trying to import test cases in Rally, I get the following error:

"You must include an object type column"

Cause

This can be caused by a couple of issues.

• Test case imports need a column titled Object Type. Entries in this column determine if the row is for a test case or a test step
• The user is trying to import an XLS or XLSX file instead of a CSV file.

Resolution

The error is referring to a column labeled Object Type. The values for that column indicate whether the entry is for a Test Case or a Test Case Step.

***Before importing test cases its recommend that you first download the example template available after clicking the Import Test Cases button.

To resolve the error, export an example file first THEN add the column and enter the applicable value.
