If an old set of licenses needs to be removed in order for the new file to be applied properly, try the following:
- Download the new license file. Make sure you have received a new license file with all the right totals and expiration dates on it.
- The previous licenses need to be removed from the system. To do this, on your SMP server go to "C:\ProgramData\Symantec Shared\Licenses" and delete the files there (the licenses files will appear with a format name like 'sym5adf4dd700.slf' for example).
- Open Task Scheduler>Task Scheduler Library on the server. Run "NS.Internal Licensing Refresh Item.{e8136a00-759c-4471-addc-b1d9e58cb5bd}"
- Open SIM and go to "Add/Update Licenses".
- All the licenses will appear as Expired or Trial.
- Apply the new license file.
- Counts and expiration dates will now display from the new licenses.
