SDM 17.3 installation failed with an Integration error

CA Service Management - Service Desk Manager

Issue/Introduction

When installing the SDM 17.3, the following error message appears on the Integration step.

Integrations of the products has failed, for the below tasks:

Export Service Desk Manager Policy File
Restart CA Service Desk Manager Services.

Would you like to continue with the remaining installation?

The install.log shows:

If the command sql_check_db (e.g. sql_check_db -c -s SDMSRV) is executed on the SDM server, the following error comes up.

ERROR: AHD50072: Unable to log in to SQL Server

Environment

Release : 17.3, SQL2019 (running on a separate machine from a SDM server)

Resolution

Only Microsoft SQL Management Studio was installed on the SDM server. SQLCMD utility and SQL Client Tool need to be installed on the SDM server too.
