Issue/Introduction

We have many lpars and the STCTBL format is the same for all of them except for 2.  For some reason one of the columns in in the wrong position.

What do I need to do to rebuild the STCTBL with the columns in their correct positions?

Resolution

You can use the procedure below to rearrange the order of the columns of a table:

1) On panel 2.6 insert a new table with the "i" line command against your current STCTBL. I chose the new name STCTBL_X:

2) Just hit enter on the next panel:

3) You will then see the list of columns. You can change the order of the columns by using the normal edit commands like M (move), A (after), etc

4) Hit PF3 when you are done and you will have an empty new table. Use the T - transfer command to copy the data from the old to the new table. Don't use copy because this will revert the modifications of the column sequence.

You should then have your new table with the desired order of columns.
