Process ccsmsvrd.exe is taking a lot of memory

Issue/Introduction

On the scalability servers, process "CA IT Client Manager r14 CSM SERVER DAEMON (32 bit)" (ccsmsvrd.exe) is taking a lot of memory. Why ?

Example : In below screenshot ccsmsvrd.exe is taking 940.7 MB of memory :

Environment

Client Automation - All Versions.

Resolution

ccsmsvrd.exe is taking a lot of memory when there are a lot of computer configuration jobs in status "activation in progress".

If "Default Computer Policy" or a configuration policy applied on lot of computers are updated, a new configuration job is generated for all computers.

 

Deployment of these jobs are the cause of high memory usage of process ccsmsvrd.exe on the scalability servers.

 

After few days, when most of computers have received the new configuration policy, memory usage of process ccsmsvrd.exe should be low again.
