Issue/Introduction

The VIP Enterprise Gateway EGConsole service (SSP, MyVIP, or Manager IdP) is showing an "Invalid Host" error when trying to configure with a DNS or FQDN name instead of an IP address.

Resolution

This is working as designed.

We do allow the entering of the DNS address in the 'Host' setting. However,  it is required that you must access the EG console on the same DNS that you are trying to enter in the 'Host' setting. We have a validation requirement in the host setting where it expects the same host. You can browse to the EGConsole using the DNS name from the EGW server or another machine using port 8232.

Whatever IP details we enter here are used in the server management activities by the EG Console. So even if we are entering the IP details on the EG Page we can still share the DNS to the End users accessing the VIPSSP / MYVIP and Manager IDP URLs.
