Issue/Introduction

Windows Application system event logs on the Notification Server had many error messages similar to the following:

DCOM was unable to communicate with the computer ***.***.*** using any of the configured protocols; requested by PID   ***  (D:\***\Notification Server\Bin\AeXSVC.exe).

Environment

ITMS 8.x

Cause

Port 135 is blocked by a firewall or network security policy, preventing DCOM communication between the SMP Server and targeted computers.

Resolution

  1. Verify if Port 135 is open between the SMP Server and the remote computer.
  2. If blocked, unblock Port 135 to allow DCOM traffic.
  3. Review Ports and Protocols for Symantec IT Management Suite (ITMS) 8.x to ensure all required ports for AeXSVC are open.
