Issue/Introduction

Users who connect through VTAM  session remain connected to Sysview session. Timeout seems not working.

The USERS command shows users with a session time of days:

Userid   Interface CmdCt SessTime

USERA   VTAM      10 00:05:30
USERB    VTAM     105 25,4DAYS

The session time for USEB is 25.4 days

The following message should have been produced but did not appear:

10.12.24 STC20245  GSVX421I (VTAM.USERB) User session timeout, LU VBC01010 Userid USERB

Environment

Release : 16.0

Cause

The timeout value for that user was 0.

Resolution

Check if there is a timeout value for that user doing the following steps:

1. Issue SECURITY command

2.- Select USER GROUPS

3.- Select the group USERB  belongs to

4.- Select the Miscellaneous Section and see what the timeout value is set to.  If the timeout is set to zero the user will not be timed out.

5.- If the timeout is set to zero then use a value different than 0 to force the termination of the session. For example, suppose the timeout value is 5. If a user in this group logs on and does not enter any input for five minutes, then the session is terminated.
