Experiencing delays in getting events assigned by the nas

Issue/Introduction

We are experiencing a delay in getting events assigned by Nimsoft (nas probe).

Environment

• Release: 20.3.3

Resolution

1. Upgraded to nas 9.35.

2. Deactivated nas

3. Renamed the database.db and transactionlog.db

4. Select the alarm_enrichment probe.

5. Hold down the SHIFT key and rt-click to open Raw Configure

6. Under the startup->opt section

7. Set the java min/max to 2048 and 4096 respectively. the mery was previously set to the defaults which was too low).

8. Deactivate alarm_enrichment

9. Activate alarm_enrichment

10. Activate nas

11. Recommended review of nas best practices article with a focus on offloading nas workload to other secondary/remote hubs when and where applicable (where the nas rules can operate on the alarms coming through that remote hub)

12. Disabled 1 nas preprocessing rule recently added to execute a script that decreased the alarm severity to Informational, and it appeared to improve the event assignment a lot!

13. nas is processing a lot of messages now over 1M whereas beforehand, alarm_enrichment was processing millions but nas was only processing 10-13K messages, only a few thousand at a time.
    
    Customer will reenable the nas preprocessing rule to see if event assignment improved due to upgrading the nas, or if it was just the nas rule that was causing the slowdown in the nas message processing. Events are now being assigned within a very reasonable time frame.
