Create dashboard for VMware vCenter datastore free & used space

Issue/Introduction

I need a query to get Datastore free space and used space. We are trying to create a dashboard for the vCenter data stores. Please find below this dashboard is not so attractive & difficult to manage 100 datastores details on it. Here you can see in the right pane that there are lot of datastores.

Resolution

This requirement would be more easily met and much easier to see due to the number of VMware datastores, using the List Designer/List Viewer webapp.

You have to upgrade to CU6 or higher like CU7 (recommended) first.

Alternatively, you can use the List portlet in Dashboard Designer to display the status of all of the datastores but I would use the new List Designer.

 

When using the List Designer, you don’t need to use/configure/run a query, you can just configure the List View using the Designer, and click Apply to add columns until you are satisfied with the List View.
