Unable to uninstall AAI 6.4.6-1 on Windows

Issue/Introduction

When attempting to uninstall AAI 6.4.6-1, the Error below is seen:

An error occurred:

java.lang.RuntimeException: java.io.FileNotFoundException C:\aai\.install4j\files.log (The system cannot find the file specified)

 

Environment

Release : 6.4.6.1

Resolution

To uninstall manually, so that you can reinstall a clean AAI installation follow the steps below:

1. Save a copy of the jaws-database.xml file and the .jawskey file from the jboss/standalone/configuration directory

2. I disable the AAI service and rebooted the server, to ensure that you can either rename the existing install directory or delete the directory

3. Deleted the registry key by going to the windows search menu and typing "regedit"

Go to Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Automic Automation Intelligence and delete that key like below:

 

4. Reboot the server and verified the Automic Automation Intelligence service gets removed.

 

5. Run the installation again, and copy over the .jawskey and jaws-database.xml to the jboss/standalone/configuration directory if you will be connecting to an existing database

 

6. Launch the configuration tool and verify it can connect to the database

 

7. If the connection to the database is successful you can start the Automic Automation Intelligence service
