What is Entity-Based Security for Financial Processing?

Environment

Clarity 16.1.1 and supported releases.

Resolution

Entity-based security allows the customer to configure the application so that the Financial users will be able to perform financial processing tasks based on the defined security rules.

  1.     To set up Entity-based Security, go to Administration Menu.

  2.     Click on the Financial Management: 'Processing' link.

  3.     Look at the 'Security' section.

For the 'Entity-based Security' field, a drop-down list displays the following values:

None

When this value is selected, 'processing access' to financial projects is not restricted and the Clarity Financial User will be able to process all transactions in the financial module regardless of the investment's associated Entity.

Parent

When this value is selected, processing access is restricted to financial investments that are associated with the same Entity that is defined for the financial user and defined for the Financial Defaults. If no Default Entity is specified, the security behaves as strict.

Strict

When this value is selected, processing access is restricted to financial investments that are associated with the same financial location Entity that is defined for the Clarity Financial User.

When selecting 'Parent' or 'Strict' Entity-based Security, the end-user must have a Financial Department and Location OBS Unit assigned for determining the Resource Entity for comparison.
