Unable to regiter Layer 7 on Siteminder Policy Server (smreghost exited with nonzero status 249)

Issue/Introduction

We have the following message when we try to register the Layer7 

Attempting to register SSO SDK agent from Manage CA Single Sign-On Configuration

Failed with the Error dialog:

Register CA Single Sign-On Host

Registration Failed: Unable to invoke smreghost program: Program smreghost exited with nonzero status 249.  Output: Registration failed (‘invalid credentials’) 

 

Environment

Release : 10.0

Cause

This error is returned from SiteMinder policy server,  the siteminder user and password is not correct 

Resolution

Need to confirm the siteminder legacy users password 

Workaround

Create a new legacy account siteminder2 with a known password 

Successfully registered the trusted host using the new legacy account
