Upgrading to SYSVIEW 17.0, the TRAN mask character has been changed from '*' to '=' on the CTRANSUM panel.

Resolution

It looks like those characters are defined in the PARMLIB member CICSSTAT:

Other Parmlib Member Updates for UDC:

The following parmlib members were updated to support the new unified data collection (UDC) process.

CICSSTAT:

The default variable-length (VLMC) and fixed-length (FLMC) masking characters were changed as shown in the following table:

                              VLMC    FLMC

SYSVIEW 16.0           *           +

SYSVIEW 17.0           =           *

Users can still define their own masking characters. However, the change to the default character is relevant when SYSVIEW reads definitions from CICSSTAT.

Broadcom recommends that sites migrating from release 16.0 evaluate existing metric (variable) definitions in CICSSTAT and update the Rscename (formerly Resourc1) and Rscequal values (formerly Resourc2) as needed.

When reading from CICSSTAT, SYSVIEW will translate the * and = values as follows:

Length of MetricName value          SYSVIEW translation                Result

≤ 8 characters (16.0 format)           Definition was not updated       All occurrences of * become = (VLMC) and all occurrences of + become * (FLMC)

> 8 characters (17.0 format)           Definition has been updated    Single-character strings containing * become =
