Issue/Introduction

Vantage is running on the LPAR, and Emails sent from this LPAR are working normally with the SMTP configuration. But a different email server and other SMTP information need to be customized to send the emails from a different email server than one in the VKGPARMS. How to customize the SMTP information in the Windows client?

Environment

Windows Client 12.7.871.5.
Vantage 14.1

Resolution

In order to configure Sending email from Windows Client ( SMTP ), you can use a functionality, which we provide called Mail Tester.

Mail tester is located in Windows start -> CA -> Mail Tester:

In case you cannot find it there, it is in the installation dir (C:\Program Files (x86)\CA\BrightStor SRM\Bin) for instance ( you need to check where do you install it)

When you start Mail Tester you need to specify this item:

Your Name: You can use any name

Your email address: Yours company address

Relay SMTP Server: You need to check with your network team, what is SMP IP or Address you can use ( What is allowed in yours company), in my case we use google, and link looks like this.

SMTP Server Port: Default is 25 ( but again your company can change it from default)

User name: Your user name to login to your organization email

Password: Password you use for login to your company email.

When you set all parameters, you can perform a test, by pressing the next button, the screen will be prefilled and press the button Perform Test:

When you successfully perform test, the next step is to configure the Windows client.

Tools -> Options -> General

Mandatory is Email Server Port ( in my case 25) ( if the above test was successful)

In some cases other information could be pulled from the system
