Issue/Introduction

We are planning to upgrade DX UIM servers' OS, for example from Windows 2012R2 to Windows 2019  or from RHEL7 or RHEL8 to RHEL9.

Seeking advice on the OS upgrade approach to use in-place OS upgrade or provision new VM for DB, Primary hub, Secondary hub, and bundled Cabi.

In addition, any sequence for upgrading these components and points to take note of for each of them?

Environment

  • Release: Any

Cause

  • Guidance

Resolution

1. Stop the Nimsoft Robot Watcher service. If you have HA and its enabled, the HA hub should take over processing data during the upgrade.

2. Deactivate the robot service, so that it does not automatically start if reboots are required during the upgrade.

3. Take a backup of the entire server

4. Upgrade the OS

5. Activate/start the Nimsoft Robot Watcher service

6. Validate all DX UIM components with steps in the following knowledge article:

Post-installation/upgrade checklist for UIM Server, Operator Console, CABI

Additional Information

Please also refer to the knowledge article:
Moving or Migrating DX UIM Installation from old environment to a new one (Physical or Virtual)

You may want to upgrade the UIM database server first and then the secondary hub, primary hub, OC  and then bundled cabi servers.
