Localhost logs show Root exception is java.net.UnknownHostException when testing the directory connection

Issue/Introduction

Seeing the following error in the localhost tomcat logs after testing the directory connection

org.springframework.ldap.CommunicationException: <server name>:636; nested exception is javax.naming.CommunicationException: <server name>:636 [Root exception is java.net.UnknownHostException: <server name>]org.springframework.ldap.CommunicationException: <server name>:636; nested exception is javax.naming.CommunicationException: <server name>:636 [Root exception is java.net.UnknownHostException: <server name>]

Environment

Symantec Data Loss Prevention

Cause

The Enforce is not able to resolve the remote server hostname.

 

Resolution

The long-term resolution to this issue is to update the DNS so the server name can be resolved from Enforce.

Short term: update the windows hosts file with the name and ip address of the hostname.
