Issue/Introduction

Broadcom Security Analytics has migrated from the Instance and Storage license model to the Data Throughput licensing model. The license is now contained in a file to replace the old 16-character license key used previously. The migration or relicense is relatively easy but contains multiple steps.

The FRS Connection Test is failing under the Health Report.

Environment

Release 8.2.5 or newer

Cause

This is a problem when a sensor needs the Intelligence Services license and it has expired and needs to be extended.  This expiration appears in the Health Tests as "FRS Connection Test is failing" or WebPulse subcription or others.

Resolution

The sensor must be running release 8.2.5 or later. You may need to upgrade to the latest release.

To migrate the license from the old to the new, you will need to relicense.  The first step is to download the BCL license file from the Broadcom support portal.

Under My Entitlements, select Security Analytics. Select Entitlement Details.  There will be multiple rows.  The license you are looking for will be a 10 digit serial number.  Much like 0072194531.  Select award ribbon under Licenses to the right of the row with the 10 digit number.  The description for the license will be "Security Analytics Analysis 10TB Daily Subscription 1YR".  The SKU is SA-10T-SUB.

Enter a Passphrase.  This is required and will be used when licensing in the application.  Remember the passphrase. After it is entered, select Download.  Save the file to your desktop.

Login to the Security Analytics application with an admin account and select the About " i " ball in the top right corner of the screen.  Select License Details.

Select Relicense

Select "

Browse to the downloaded BCL file and enter the Passphrase entered earlier.

Select whether you have a Sensor or a Central Manager.  Once you select Update, the system will relicense using the Broadcom BCL license and reboot.  Check back in the About -> License Details and you should see something similar to:

Note the License Model of Data Throughput where the old model was "Instance and Storage"

This should complete the relicensing.  The Intelligence Services providers should respond properly with alerts and successful health tests.
